The traditional model for tyre replacement requires you to book a slot at a garage, drive there, sit in a waiting room for an hour and a half, and drive home. For a puncture, you might be waiting roadside for a breakdown service first. Mobile tyre fitting does away with all of this. Here's precisely how it works.
Step 1: You Call or Book Online
Tell us your vehicle registration, the tyre size you need (or we'll look it up), and your location. That's it. We'll give you a fixed price inclusive of tyre, fitting, balancing, and disposal of your old tyre. No hidden fees. No call-out charge.
For emergencies โ blowout, sudden flat, TPMS light that's turned into a flat โ call 07814 095 395 directly. We'll give you an ETA immediately.
Step 2: We Come to You
Every Skid Marks van is a fully equipped mobile fitting bay. We carry a comprehensive stock of tyres across all three brand tiers โ budget, mid-range, and premium โ covering the most common sizes for passenger cars, 4x4s, vans, and commercial vehicles. Our equipment includes a hydraulic floor jack, wheel brace, portable tyre changer, balancing machine, torque wrench, and TPMS programming tools.
We come to wherever your vehicle is. Your driveway. Your workplace car park. A supermarket. A roadside layby. As long as there's a reasonably flat surface and enough clearance to work, we can fit there.
Step 3: The Fitting (Typically 20โ30 Minutes)
We park the van alongside your vehicle, set up the equipment, and get to work. The process for a standard single tyre replacement:
- Loosen the wheel nuts before jacking (avoids the wheel spinning)
- Jack the vehicle safely at the correct jacking point
- Remove the wheel and bring it to the van
- Break the bead, demount the old tyre
- Mount the new tyre on the rim
- Balance the wheel โ this is done properly, not skipped
- Refit to the vehicle and torque the wheel nuts to the manufacturer's specification
- Check tyre pressure
- If relevant, reprogram the TPMS sensor
Four tyres take approximately 45โ60 minutes depending on vehicle access and tyre sizes.
Why balancing matters: Some mobile fitters skip wheel balancing or do it poorly. We don't. An unbalanced wheel causes vibration, uneven tyre wear, and premature wear of suspension and steering components. Every tyre we fit is balanced on our van-mounted machine before it goes back on your car.
Why Mobile Is Often Faster Overall
A garage appointment for tyre fitting might take 20 minutes of actual work. But you've spent 20 minutes driving there, potentially waited 90 minutes for your slot, then driven home. Two and a half hours of your day for a job that took 20 minutes.
Mobile fitting means the 20โ30 minutes of actual work happens at your location. You don't need to be present for the whole job if you're at home or at work. You carry on with your day. We knock when we're done.
